“Willette, who had slept for several hours, opened his eyes at 4 a.m. and looked around the room. His face assumed an expression of absolute peacefulness. Quietly, he said: ‘I am going on a journey. Flying into the clouds. Higher and higher! Now I am above the Alps!’ [...] ‘I am rising higher and higher,’ he said, with an expression of profound happiness. ‘Now I am going straight up, continually upward, straight up without stopping, as quickly as an arrow – up to Paradise.’” – “I have kept this because it is quite exactly the death from Jakobsleiter.” (Schönberg on the vision of death by French painter Willette)
