After moving to Traunsee, Schönberg’s summer vacation was still troubled by confrontations with antisemitism. There was no hiding from the fact that the Hoisen inn, which he had frequented since 1905, was “adorned” in early September with a swastika flag, despite protests from the Jewish contingent, which a group of “local National Socialists” (Volksruf, 3 September 1921) carried with them. The reason for the presence of the swastika consisted of outings which the National Socialists had organized for the party convention in Linz in late August with members from Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia.
